Designed for centralized data storage, business file sharing, reliable backup management, and convenient personal cloud access, the Advanced Home & Office 4-Bay Desktop NAS provides a versatile network storage solution for home offices, growing businesses, remote professionals, and users with expanding storage requirements. Built around the Synology DiskStation DS423, this four-bay system combines four NAS hard drives with a RAID 5 storage configuration, providing approximately 12TB of nominal usable storage capacity before formatting and system overhead. It is well suited for organizing business documents, maintaining centralized file libraries, storing large collections of photos and videos, managing backups from multiple devices, and sharing important data across compatible computers and mobile devices. The RAID 5 configuration distributes data and parity information across the installed drives, allowing the system to tolerate the failure of one hard drive while maintaining access to stored information. Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) provides an intuitive platform for centralized file management, user permissions, backup applications, and secure file sharing through supported services, making this system a practical solution for everyday storage and collaborative workflows.

The system is built around the Synology DiskStation DS423 4-Bay Desktop NAS, powered by a Realtek RTD1619B Quad-Core 1.7GHz processor and equipped with 2GB of DDR4 non-ECC system memory. The configuration includes four carefully selected 4TB 3.5-inch SATA III 6Gb/s NAS hard drives, providing 16TB of total raw storage capacity. All four hard drives are configured in RAID 5 Striping with Parity, delivering approximately 12TB of nominal usable storage capacity before formatting and system overhead, with redundancy against a single drive failure. The installed NAS hard drives are selected by our specialists based on availability, reliability, and compatibility with the selected system, so the actual drive manufacturer and model may vary. The Synology DS423 features two Gigabit Ethernet (1GbE) LAN ports for network connectivity and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports for compatible external devices and storage expansion. Powered by Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM), the system supports centralized file storage, shared folders, data backup applications, remote file access through supported services, and flexible storage management. Its four-bay desktop design provides additional storage capacity and configuration flexibility for home offices, business environments, and users managing growing collections of important digital data.

The Desktop NAS configurator provides flexible customization options to accommodate different storage capacities, backup requirements, data protection preferences, and budgets. Increase or decrease the capacity of the available NAS hard drives to match your storage needs, adjust the number of installed drives, or select a different RAID configuration supported by the selected NAS system and number of installed drives. RAID 5 Striping with Parity is included in the default configuration to provide a balance between usable storage capacity and redundancy against a single hard drive failure. Depending on your requirements, you can choose another supported RAID level or select independent hard drive operation without RAID redundancy. Please note that available RAID configurations depend on the NAS model and the number of installed drives, and not all combinations are supported. RAID configurations without redundancy do not provide protection against drive failure, and RAID itself is not a substitute for maintaining separate backups of important data. Actual usable storage capacity depends on the selected hard drives, RAID configuration, and system formatting requirements. Our specialists review selected storage components and RAID requirements to ensure compatibility and proper configuration before shipment.

Every Desktop NAS System is professionally assembled, fully configured, and thoroughly tested before shipment to ensure dependable operation and long-term reliability. Any selected upgrades are professionally installed, validated, and tested as part of our quality control process. Assembly and testing are included at no additional cost, and every system is backed by warranty and professional technical support.

RAID Setup For Data Storage

RAID Setup For Data Storage

Pair multiple identical Drives together to improve Performance or Redundancy.

Mirroring: At least 2 Drives joined as one, data is exactly the same on each one.
For Example if you have 2 - 1TB Hard Drives your computer will only show 1TB, this is designed to protect against data loss. If a drive fails the data is simply read off the other disk.

Striping: At least 2 Identical Drives with data spread across them.
For example, if you have 2 - 1TB Hard Drives it will look like you just have a single 2TB drive. But if you load a file and both of your drives are sending data at 100Mbps each, your total transfer speed will be 200Mbps.
