Description
Genuine Original Compaq 16-Port StorageWorks Fiber Channel SAN Switch 158223-B21 DS-DSGGB-AB. The Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel SAN Switch/16 is a high-performance, scalable switch fabrics designed for creating Storage Area Networks (SAN) with Compaq StorageWorks RAID Array 8000/ESA12000 or MA8000/EMA12000 storage systems.
Part Number: DS-DSGGB-AB
Compatible Numbers: 158223-B21
Features:
- Sixteen (Fibre Channel SAN Switch/16) 1 Gb/s non-blocking Fibre Channel connections for high data throughput.
- Dynamic path rerouting in the event of a link failure.
- Support for interconnecting up to 4 switches together (2 switch hops for max) for creating larger SAN's.
- Backward compatibility between new Fibre Channel SAN switches and previous Fibre Channel switches (DSGGA). Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel Switches using a compatibility mode.
- New “Universal Ports” self-configure to the type of device connected to them. They automatically detect a fabric attached device (F port), an FCAL attached device (FL port), or another Compaq StorageWorks Fibre Channel SAN Switch (E port)
- New Quickloop FCAL emulation software for HP-UX enables connection of FCAL attached HP-UX based servers directly to a new Fibre Channel SAN Switch for supporting heterogeneous server environments on a SAN.
- Configure some ports on a switch as an arbitrated loop for supporting HP-UX and others as direct non-blocking fabric connected ports for supporting Solaris, Tru64 UNIX, OVMS, and Windows NT.
- Zoning software enables creations of multiple “logical” SAN's within a switch fabric.
- The SAN Switch 16 is easy to set up and configure. After the Power-On Self-Test (POST), just add the switch’s Internet protocol (IP) address. The remainder of the setup is automated.
- The GBIC modules support single-mode and multi-mode fiber transmission media. The switch’s modular construction allows flexibility in creating, upgrading, maintaining, and configuring a fabric.
- The low-latency, high-performance design requires no processor data path interaction. The Fibre Channel bandwidth is 100 MB/s per port (full duplex).
- Switches can be cascaded for large fabric support. Switches can be interconnected for a large fabric with multiple fabric connections.
